Parrots, Pancakes & Pottery

Happy Monday, I hope you had a great weekend. Saturday morning myself and two friends checked out one of our local farmer's markets, went out for breakfast and then took in the Edmonton Potters Guild show held in the city's main library downtown.  I had a great time.  I took a pottery course last fall and yesterday reinforced my desire to take another - hopefully I can get into the winter or early spring class. While I appreciate your standard pieces (cups/bowls) for their sheer usefulness, it's the hand-built, more artistic pieces I'm drawn to.

I'd like to try my hand at making one of these faces
Here's a bowl I purchased - totally impractical but lovely
Kind of woodsy - I had to have this
Aint he sweet?

I took a number of pics at the farmer's market. I especially appreciated one artist Jelly Parrot Trash Crafts who makes notebooks which are completely out of recycled materials. Each page features one good ie: blank side, the other side having been 'previously enjoyed', the spines are wire coat hangers.

Don't these look gorgeous?
Owls, like I said...they're everywhere!
I keep seeing these at craft shows - each one is unique
This is a pic from a different market this summer - I especially like the ones made out of work socks - they seem to have a lot of character

  1. Gorgeous pottery!

I think the jars of jelly remind me of stained glass, so pretty.
