It'll kill you!!
Greetings! If you are reading this, please be forewarned - according to Harold Camping, the world is going to end today, again! In the meantime, we all may as well enjoy what's left of our miserable existence...
I think most people love to be frightened - it seems to be in our nature. For me, there are fewer things more exhilarating than a scary movie; and except for the Exorcist, (which I never actually saw on the big screen) John Carpenter's 1980 classic The Fog, is my all-time scariest.
My then boyfriend and I were already very jumpy by the time the movie was over, but it was the walk home that sent us both right over the edge. The winter night was cold and silent, except for the crunch, crunch, crunch of each step. Icy wind clawed our faces. Eyes watched from inside each parked car. When it came time to walk me those last two blocks before he could turn back and head home, Mike chickened out and I had to sprint them alone. It was sheer, unbridaled terror that propelled me down those streets, lol!!

You know, today wouldn't be a bad day for the world to end. The house is due for a good vacuum and if I can miss that, hey, all the better :)
ReplyDeleteI love horror movies! And the scared-out-of-my-wits feeling that some of them leave you with. I don't have a particular movie I prefer, but I do enjoy the ones that scare you psychologically. Not a big fan of the gory, slasher-types.
Loved "The Fog". I even watched the new one but the old version is still the best.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time, I am not affected by horror films. When I am, it is usually something quirky that gets to me.
As a teen there were only two movies that I remember doing that. One was "The Evil Dead". The laugh of the possessed girlfriend really freaked me out. Second was "Children of the Corn". The movie itself didn't bother me but my girlfriend at the time lived way out in the country and so did I. So back roads were the quickest route. Driving along those narrow country roads with looming cornfields on both sides and a full moon to boot gave me an uneasy feeling.
But..but..I don't the world to end. I'm having too much fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what my movie is. I try to avoid those ones cause I'm such a wimp. Is Raising Cain a horror movie? That one skeered me badly.
The idea of fog being able to kill is freaky too!
Especially having grown up on the West Coast. The fog is thick and comes in creepily enough on its own to surround everything in its path*shiver
Wow! What made you think of this movie after all this time? I listened to the clip, not sure I ever saw it.
ReplyDeleteI never was a big fan of scary movies, but did see" The Birds" that Alfred Hitchcock made, it was pretty scary.
Also, "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane" was very suspenseful and scary for my tender eyes and ears.
Martha, I am more of a fan of the psychological thriller as well. I think they are actually scarier than the slasher ones.

LaelShine, You still need to get some more wear out of those killer shoes before the world ends lol!
Lorene, The Fog seems to be a movie I just naturally think of around Halloween :)
