Inquiring Minds Want to Know!

I recently received The Versatile Blogger award from Tracey at Breathing English Air
Thanks Tracey :)
One of the rules for this award is: Mention 7 Random Things About Yourself.

1. I am officially left-handed, but am ambidextrous in many areas.

2.  I was never a bride in the traditional sense, but instead eloped to Niagara Falls close to 28 years ago. The two people who stood in as our witnesses were complete strangers we approached in a park adjacent to the courthouse. We shocked everyone in our lives (my sister was the only person we told) and no, I wasn't with child, just young & crazy, lol!
Our witnesses - as you can see, it was a very casual affair!

3.. My legal name is Barbara; Jane is actually my middle name, and I've always gone by Jane.

4. My all-time favourite concert experience was seeing Alice Cooper, Sept/08. In a word, WOW.

5. I have extremely tiny ears (they measure just under 2 inches) and have what's known as an attached lobe - in fact, I have no 'lobe' to speak of. I will understand if you no longer wish to follow this blog, now that you have learned this disturbing information!

6. 90% of the time I dress all in black.

7. I keep a dream journal and have recorded a number of highly significant dreams over the years.

Now it's your turn dear reader - reveal three random things about yourself in my comments section!

Also, did you know it's Love Your Pet Day?

How can we resist!

  1. Jane, were we separated at birth? I too am left-handed but ambidextrous in nearly everything, I too have those teeny ears with attached lobes, and I live in black 99% of the time!! (and of course we both have Morkies...spooky!)

    1. Sulky, I've always known something was missing in my life, there's been a deep, underlying emptiness... now I know the reason!! Do you also eat earthworms for breakfast? Cause if you do, this is getting downright creepy...

  2. I am also left-handed, but totally so.

I have twin sons, I cannot click my fingers not matter how hard I try and I love listening to Pavarotti as I cook :)

I didn't know it is Love Your Pet day, but I love mine everyday :)

    1. Annie, I can't imagine not being able to click my fingers - how interesting! I love Pavarotti as well - I have the duet he did with Brian Adams a few years ago.

  3. Love your elope story! That is so exciting. Yes, you may have been young and crazy, but you were young and DARING!

Well, you'll be happy to know that you're not alone in the ear thing. I also have tiny ears. My husband sometimes teases me about them; asks me if I can hear with those teeny little things! LOL...

I don't dress all in black, but I do dress in dark colours the majority of the time.

My first concert was Black Sabbath when I was 16 years old. I barely got through it. There was so much pot smoke in the air, it made me sick. Not that I had any myself :)

    1. Martha, I don't have any regrets about eloping and we ended up with a number of showers and celebrations after the fact anyways.

Lol, I've heard the same thing about my ears too - how do you hear with those things!

I've been to concerts like the Black Sabbath one! The Alice Cooper concert was very professional (in his case it's all a persona, he's actually very straight-laced in real life).

  4. Good morning Jane,
Well let's see my birthday is in April.
When my parents brought me home from the hospital I spent my first few nights in a dresser drawer. I don't know why I have two older siblings, what happen to the baby bed?

    1. Lisa, That is so adorable! I wonder if you were so tiny, they wanted you in the room with them and didn't have a bassinet to put you in? If there are pics, this would make a great post :)

  5. I too have small ears, 2 1/8" with detached lobes, and I am over 6ft tall. Way cool that you like Alice Cooper. My best concert was Iron Maiden in the mid 80s. I have tried to keep a dream journal a couple times but I am not disciplined enough. I have a two reoccurring dreams that I desire to get to the bottom of.

    1. For a man of over six feet, those are some incredibly tiny ears!! How do you hear with those teeny things... lol!! I only record significant dreams - those are the ones you wake up with a start and are stunned by what just happened and remember everything in great detail. I notice I have these when I'm under great stress. Interesting about the recurring dreams, I'd also be curious to figure them out.

  6. Three random things about myself? Jeez, my brain is not working this morning. Okay, that's one. Two -- I have never been married at all, so you're one up on me with that crazy elopement. And for my third thing: my earlobes are detached, thank you very much, and are pierced.

  7. This is the funniest blog ever!! Love the elope story, love the ear lobe story! Hahahahahahhahaha! Me? I have a metal ankle thanks to a fall I had wehile walking my dog a few years ago, I have a picture of myself sitting on the Arctic Circle, I talked about the movie star Pierce Brosnan so much one year my co-workers signed me up for his fan club and I have never cancelled my membership.

    1. Lol, I was afraid I was perhaps bordering on TMI with the ear info, but I seem to have struck a chord! That Pierce Brosnan story is hilarious and that's definitely something I could see co-workers doing. Sorry to hear about your fall - ouch. The pic of you sitting at the top of the world sounds like a good future post...I know I'd love to see it.

  8. Your wedding was perfect! I would have done something like that, but compromised and allowed our parents and siblings to attend. My parents were so disappointed we had a blessing service in church (like a typical big wedding) the following year!
And my first name is Susan!

    1. Thankfully, our parents didn't seem to be disappointed... perhaps they were, but didn't let on. Susan! This going by your middle name is more common than you'd first think. I don't like Barbara and cringe at the thought of going by it.

  9. Nice to learn a few facts about you, I have these weird ear lobes as well, I remember learning about it at school and the teacher decided to use me as an example of "strange ear lobes" in front of the whole class, I was horrified!

    1. Hi Sarah, Probably more than you wanted to know, lol! I think that teacher was rather insensitive - the last thing we want when we're younger is to be singled out as an example. Welcome back - I hope you had an amazing time visiting the Koalas :)

  12. Be grateful for your little ears. My ear-lobes will be hanging down to my shoulders by the time I'm 85 (that's okay, just more room for my diamond earrings right!)
Hey, I also go by MY middle name!
My husband and I got married in June of 1983, how close are we to the date of your anniversary?

    1. Hi Kay, I always love your sense of humour. Lol, Yes there's always an upside to everything: more room for diamond earrings!! We were married June 22/84.

    1. I've so rarely meet people who've eloped. I wonder if there's a website featuring our stories... I've always really liked the name Jane, even when I was young.

    2. I kind of wish mine were detached, I think earrings look nicer on them, but I guess that's the least of my problems, lol!!
