Season 11

"Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things."

Well, another season of American Idol is underway (can you believe this is the 11th year?) and Steven Tyler is once again in fine form; I love his hilarious, though often cringe-worthy outbursts. He's certainly a breath of fresh air compared to that sour-puss Simon Cowell. He may be crazy, unpredictable and wear ladies blouses, but he's also funny, endearing and seems to genuinely care about the contestants. As I watch the series, I plan to scribble down some of his funniest quips and share them with you when it's all over.

Watching the tryouts is not for the faint of heart.
This one from a few seasons ago cracks me up every time!!

  1. I love the way he closes his eyes, and shakes his head like a blind horse looking for its nosebag. Plus, his language is 'nearly' as colourful as mine, I need to get one of those bleep machines!

    1. Me too, don't they recognize talent when they hear it?

  3. Ha ha ha ha...that is too funny!

I really like Steven Tyler; he's got so much character, and he seems like a really fun guy. I'd rather him than Simon Cowell; I really don't like him. He seems so "uptight", and about as much fun as a wet noodle. Bleh.

    1. Hahaha, wet noodle - perfect description. I agree - Steven brings humour and lightness to the series - and great accessories!!

  4. I have a new love for Steven Tyler...even if he is a genuine bad boy.

    1. I agree, AI has given me a whole new appreciation for Steven - it's humanized him for me.

  5. Ewwww. Am I the only one totally creeped out by Steven? He looks at those young girls like he could eat them up. I was especially creeped out when he told the one girl - in front of her dad - that she was "hot, humid and happening."
But we have laughed about his sweaty comment.

    1. Lol, I agree that he is a bit of a letch that way! I find it funny coming from him and he plays it up for the series I'm sure. I saw that particular incident you are referring to, and you could have heard a pin drop... it's all in the editing though, I suspect.

    2. He is clearly doing something right. As creeped out as I am, I have watched some of the show, and clearly, still talk about it!

  6. I think Steve Tyler and Ms.Lopez brings a real sense of knowledge and an ear for talent. I now enjoy the show like never before.
    Have a great weekend,

  7. HI JANE - oh how I love Steven Tyler. He is a womanizer but I don't even care - he is so "hot' and fun. And ya, that audition is a real side-splitter, pour guy, huh?
Love to you and thanks for the laughter

    1. Hi Gail, I have to say that in Steven's case (we're on first name basis ;) it's to be expected - he's a rocker and it comes with the reputation! I saw him once in concert around eight years ago and he was so charismatic in person. I'm afraid that some people's families are not truly honest with them!!

  8. Thanks for the good laugh this morning!! What is it about some people--they can't hear themselves???!! I actually liked Simon--he told it straight. Paula and "Dawg" were there to sugar coat stuff, and now Steven and to some extent JLo fill that roll. Steven is kind of creepy!!!

    1. Hi Dianne, I used to really like Simon and I did like his straight-shooting style, even though it often bordered on harsh. I really thought I'd never watch the series again once his departure was announced - but curiosity got the better of me and I started watching again last season and Steven turned out to be a wonderful change - it became a kinder, gentler AI for me! Simon doesn't seem to be missed by too many people. I miss crazy Paula sometimes though :)

  9. I love the "new" Steven Tyler...a lot more gentle, and clean, even though his language is still colorful, but that's just him. Can't get over how much weight Randy lost since the early American Idol series. Actually, I don't miss Simon any more, he was not very nice to the contestants, even though some of them were ridiculous. Just a pity for this poor guy on the You-Tube...how can they make such fools of themseleves?...doesn't anyone tell them how bad they are before they get on stage?
