I bet that glass oven would have been a nightmare to keep clean! Whenever doom and gloom is being predicted for the future, I think it is worth remembering things like this, because mostly what we are told is going to happen turns out to be quite different to reality.
The miraculous marble oven is my favourite! What a great little film. In UK there was a show called Tomorrow's World which used to feature future technology. It was all quite mad, but I used to love watching it.
Well, TV shopping is sort of like our internet shopping. And those measured liquid ingredient dispensers reminded me of the soft drink dispensers at Macdonald's that are pre-set to small, medium and large. So not bad, all things considered!
What an interesting video! Can you imagine having a kitchen like that. I also thought of the drink dispensers at Macdonald's that are pre-set to small, medium and large. So some things do come about, after all.
I don't think they were too far off - induction cooking is all the rage now, and microwaves are not far off infrared rays at all. I can't say our fridges keep foodstuffs fresh for six months, and that's a shame, as I'd stock up on all the lush summer fruit and keep them year round. :) I think it's pretty bang on all things considering.
I can see that 43 years ago some invisionaries were very close to the way it is at the present. I'm sure they really never thought they would get so close in their dream for the future. Uncanny when you really think about it.
I'm glad everyone enjoyed this! I agree with many of you that, in many respects, the futurists weren't all that far off the mark. I love the fridge that can keep food for six months - if only that could become a reality. I hope you all get a chance to pop by again tomorrow - I have one more (funny!) look at 'The Future' for you :)

ReplyDeleteHey!
ReplyDeleteThe BEST things came out of 1957, like me! (Or was it the strangest things?)
;-)
Lol, in your case, it was the best, Kay :)

ReplyDeleteThat refrigerator reminds me of the film Fly Away Home and the fridge in their house. Fun video.

ReplyDeleteIt is neat to see how some predictions were not that far off. :)
