I was thrilled this morning,
when I noticed one of my poppies had opened overnight :)
I took quite a few shots and thanks to the early morning sun,
the color is slightly different in each one.
Today is International Fairy Day :)
I adore fantasy and imaginary worlds.
Like a lot of girls, I was first a Spark and later a Brownie.
In folklore, a brownie is a type of hob, similar to a hobgoblin. Brownies are said to inhabit houses and aid in tasks around the house. However, they do not like to be seen and will only work at night, traditionally in exchange for small gifts or food. Among food, they especially enjoy porridge and honey. They usually abandon the house if their gifts are called payments, or if the owners of the house misuse them. Brownies make their homes in an unused part of the house. (Wiki)
Sometimes I imagine the comings and goings of forest folk...
Mushrooms, old trees and babbling brooks may not be what they seem...
Have a magical day and weekend!
Moving forward, I've decided to take a break from blogging on a daily basis.
For the summer months, I plan to post only on Tuesdays.
I hope you mark your calendars... and don't forget about me :)
I will continue to check in on the blogs I follow.
This weekend I am headed out of town for a quick trip,
returning home late Tuesday night.

Cheers!
This is where I think the magic all begins!
Have a wonderful weekend, Jane. I'll pop in on Tuesdays to visit. Love the poppies!
ReplyDeleteWhen you have a spare moment stop by my gallery sometime. I am still a little rough around the edges when it comes to my art but I am getting there :)

Ooh those are all so beautiful! One of my tattoo ideas was a fairy, with my daughter's face sitting by a pond..but then I gave up the tatto idea..may be I should commision a painting instead! I love fairies too.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your summer break! Of course I'll remember you! xoxoxoxo
Love the pictures you posted. I think I'M going to commission a painting and have you painted as a fairy! Love the idea of getting a painting commissioned in general-great thought LaelShine!
ReplyDeleteMartha, Back at you :) Thanks, I had two more blooms by this morning.
ReplyDeleteWebDebris, I really enjoyed your gallery - great work, if I'd only known, I could have pirated my pics off you - I especially loved Faery Light and Elven Magic the best :) Hey, you really are a geek lol!
LaelShine, I Love your tatoo idea - it would be beautiful and hold so much meaning for you... a painting is also a wonderful idea.
Michelle, Pretty please :) I love the idea of my being a fairy! A painting of your family in a few years ... great keepsake. Dan and I had our portraits sketched 18 years ago in Stanley Park if you recall and we still love it and have it hanging in our bedroom. I've always said I'd like to have one with us and the kids (adults now!) done.
The poppy is beautiful. Enjoy your break. Now I have another reason to love Tuesdays - cleaning the bathrooms and reading your blog. Lucky me!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mel, haha, looks like your Tuesdays are shaping up! I can't help wondering though which one you are looking forward to most...lol
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poppy!! The photos turned out so well.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that I missed Fairy Day. It's been all about fairies in this house since the fairy-themed birthday on Tuesday!
Lovely post and I love the next to last picture of the fairy among the leaves and wildflowers. I enjoyed the video too, some really atmospheric scenes and music.
ReplyDeleteAwesome video and photos. And I'll add, I love urban fantasy books as they bring the modern world in touch with the previously unseen... :)
ReplyDeleteIf you want to check out some very light summer reading in the genre, I'd recommend Moon Called by Patricia Briggs and Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews.
TrickyNag, You may need to post some of those pics :)
ReplyDeleteRowan, Thanks, I thought they captured 'the dark forest' very well.
Tatiana, Thanks for the reading leads - I will definitely look them up.
Beautiful poppies! They're one of my favourite flowers.
ReplyDeleteIdle Wife, Mine too, I only wish they'd last longer - they are here and gone in a blink it seems.
ReplyDeleteThe poppy is stunning, because of the lighting it looks rather irredesent.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy them while they are here as they are short lived.
Lorene, I was amazed how different it looks in each shot. They sure are short-lived, it's crazy - all that waiting and within 24 hours the edges are already browning - and that's if the wind hasn't already blown them off!
