This 'n That

Well, Spring has sprung! Yesterday we reached a high of +13C and it marked the third time I've donned an official spring jacket :) When I was running errands, I noticed that we've essentially lost 95% of our snow; a couple of buckets worth are all that remain in my front and back yard. I was feeling so good (I get positively giddy on beautiful spring days) that I purchased this bonsai plant! The trunk reminds me of sweet potatoes.

As you may have guessed by my new header pic, I recently discovered Photobucket! Why hasn't anyone told me about this amazing site before? I'm pretty excited about the collage feature and plan to change things up on a fairly regular basis now. Prepare yourself for a virtual onslaught of collages of every possible description. Above are some pics from a few of my personal all-time favourite posts. Do you remember any of these? I suspect there's a couple of long-time followers who might!

In American Idol news, one of my idols, Stevie Nicks, mentored the contestants this week. Her advice was spot on and you sure can tell she is a big promoter of up and coming talent. So talented herself, mysterious and beautiful - I think she is amazing! What's even more incredible, is that she turns 64 in May... Wow - looking good :)

Emma's quite interested in my new plant... maybe a little too interested,
I plan to keep my eye on her!

Now that warmer weather has (finally!) arrived, I will be posting only once a week (on Tuesdays) for the next number of months - probably until fall. This is not a hard and fast rule, and if something comes up that I simply must share with you, I'll pop it up, but for the most part I hope to stick to my self-imposed schedule. I'll still be visiting my favourite blogs, maybe not every day, but I'll catch up on any posts I've missed when I do :)

Have a great weekend and see you all on Tuesday!

  1. Emma is saying " Is it a potato, is it a plant? Can I eat it?". Stevie Nicks - great voice, can't believe her age - she must drink from the same Fountain of Youth as you Jane! Ha - you're cutting your posting to once a week, and I'm trying to INCREASE my postings to once a week!I really am a lazy-ass kitty!

    1. Haha, Thanks Sulky :) I suspect I could pay you the same compliment, but you'll need to post a pic before I can :) Emma knows I don't want her touching my plant and as a consequence, now has a permanent guilty look plastered on her face! It's either go down to once a week during the nicer months, or I'll fall completely off the rails and stop posting altogether (that happened last summer)

    1. I thought so too - it looks great in my living room! I sometimes find houseplants can be kind of boring and messy looking, I find this one quite stylish, more like a decorator piece than a plant :)

    1. Now that you mention it, I agree - it does. As for keeping it alive... I've got my fingers crossed - ask me how it's doing in a few months from now, lol!

  6. WHY have i not seen the beautiful Emma before? You must have blogged about her before we blogmet. I do hope in one of you Tues blogs you write about her!! I've given up trying to keep to a schedule so I can understand what you are saying. Glad to hear that spring is finally coming to Alberta! We're expecting snow tonight in Niagara. :(

    1. Hi Francie, I'm not sure how you and Emma have missed each other! She has her own page above my header which I occasionally update (I've been lax the past few weeks) if you like, you can leave her a comment telling her how cute she is there (like she doesn't already know, haha) and I can guarantee she'll reply :) I heard you are expecting flurries - this time of year is so unpredictable - best not to put the woolies away just yet.

  7. I love the bonsai tree-I want one! Actually I've been wanting one for a few years..just not sure where I would put it to keep kids and the cat away from it. I'm interested in getting one like the old guy in Karate Kid had (the original Karate Kid I might add!)

  8. Dear Jane,
Now I have a reason to look forward to Tuesdays! Your photos are great! The monks have been selling bonsai plants from the monastery here in Rockdale County for many years. They are beautiful.
You have my undying respect, you know, since you are the only one who guessed the quote on my blog is from "Dumb And Dumber". I love that movie too!
My son only has to say these words to me..."your hands are FREEZING" and he knows I will crack up...
Oh, and I love Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty both!
Give that lovely Emma a pat on the head for me. :-)

  9. American idol was at it's best this week I thought. Stevie Nicks is so talented there were several constants this week I would pay money to see.
Glad to hear about spring arriving in your neck of the woods, here in Tennessee it has been a record setting March for high temps.

    3. Isn't she amazing? I want to be her... not sure how I can make this happen, but it's a dream nonetheless! No spring jackets today - Mother Nature's up to her tricks again and we're getting a snowstorm, lol!!

    4. Phillip Phillips, then that last blonde haired girl that sang, but who know it could change at any given time. I agree Stevie should have sung.

    5. Yes, Phillip Phillips is my choice as well.

  11. You always have beautiful headers..
I do like your Bonsai, eldest son has one that looks similiar in leaves as yours.
Have fun in your spring and summer and look forward to a post every now and then when you get time :)

  12. Jane those do look like sweet potatoes! Very cool plant! Nice job on the header, I get lazy and just use the blogger templates most of the time! Glad most of your snow is gone!

    1. Hi Diane, I probably change up my blog too much - I'm a frustrated perfectionist.
I've only ever used the blogger templates though, that's my next challenge.

  13. I've always loved Stevie! Just blog hopping and trying to catch up. Laughed at the real Barbie. Love your new header, I'll have to check Photobucket out sometime...

  14. So you discovered Photobucket?...I also did too, a while back, can't even remember my password any more. Didn't know you could create a Template with them for your blog. Thanks for the tip, Jane!
Love little Emma (what a cute name for her)...she does look like she's about to get into mischief, but you caught her, and she's probably thinking to herself..."now what?"
Glad that you're finally getting spring weather...no more snow! isn't that the best news?
    Have a great week!

    1. We have so many passwords to remember in our lives, I'm not surprised you don't remember yours :) What I created through them was just the photo collage - there are a number of styles to choose from and also, you can edit photos, for example adding text.

Emma's a sweetheart, but she keeps me on my toes, I hope she'll get better in time - she's only just over a year old.
