Some Christmas Cheer

The few times in my life that I've ridden the subway were not the most exciting on record... I really didn't enjoy the feeling of being herded into slots like cattle! I'm thankful I don't need to ride it on a daily basis like so many millions around the world. Judging by the smiles on their faces, this impromptu concert the other day must have helped brighten an otherwise dull transit for some Torontonians; many couldn't resist singing along :)

  1. Hahaha...so cool! I can't tell you how many times I took the subway while living in Montreal, and it can be a little mind numbing. I usually brought along a book to read to make it more interesting. But this would have been a lot more fun!

    1. Yes, I bet you are well acquainted with the subway :) At least there are books & i-pods to keep people entertained and they don't worry about the traffic for a while.

  2. I would have sung along too! R the RNR has always been one of my favourite carols, right from when I was a pre-schooler 50 years ago!

    1. Walking is the best - it's more of a European thing to walk everywhere - a mind-set we need to adopt more over here. Of course, it doesn't help that our cities are not planned with that in mind.

  5. ...We need more of that in this world where people can laugh and just enjoy themselves unexpectantly. Great video

  7. I love subways! I wish I'd been there for this one, although my croaking along to the song might not have been appreciated by more musically inclined folks! What fun!!

  8. You don't see this happen very often. Being an introvert subways and buses give me the heebee geebees. To close for me.

    1. That's how I felt the few times I've ridden them. They are a necessary evil, I guess.

  10. Great clip Jane, so nice to see people responding and joining in on the singing.

I'm sure they left the subway feeling uplifted that day and a lot more happy.

  11. This looks like so much fun! Most times people just ignore each other, which suits me fine most of the time! I would have joined in on the singing this time though!

    1. I could tell a few people didn't know what to make of it at first - we are all so used to being isolated from one another - even when we're in the same subway car!

  15. I really enjoyed the London Subway system, DD2 spent a semester there and when I went to visit she was familar with them and we went everywhere in them. I love the very idea of flash mobs, this wasn't a huge one but was very successful. Thanks for visiting, I am now a follower of yours too.
