An Unexpected Journey

Last November, I shared a mini-bucket-list with you, stating that before I die, I'd like to write a book, start a business and visit Hobbiton... Well, one of my dreams is coming true. In a few weeks we are travelling down under to New Zealand and Australia! One of the highlights of the trip is that while in New Zealand, we will be staying only 60 kilometres (in Rotorua - named New Zealand's most beautiful city 2010) from Hobbiton, and on May 6th, we take 'the official tour.' Mere words cannot begin to express to you my sheer delight at the thought!!

I look forward to sharing highlights and pics with you once I return.  In the meantime, in order to properly prepare for our trip, I will be taking a very necessary bloggy-break. I'll try to visit you all as time allows and I hope you'll understand if I'm a bit scarce for the next few weeks.

  8. Have a wonderful time, Jane. One of my friends moved close to this area a couple of years ago and keeps asking me to visit. I will get there eventually, I'm sure.

  9. NO WAY! Woooooooow! (Pleeeeaaaase squeeze me into one of your suitcases. I won't take up much room.) This is very exciting. I'm soooo happy for you, Jane. And I can't wait to see lots and lots of photos of two countries that I would do anything to visit. Have a great time and stay calm until you get there, so you don't blow up with excitement in the meantime...LOL...

  12. Lol, removed previous comment because it really didn't make sense. That's what happens when you post as soon as you get out of bed lol. I'll try again...

Fantastic! New Zealand is beautiful, Rotorua is such a clean, friendly town even though it does smell like sulphur from all the geothermal activity around. What part of Australia are you visiting? My guess is the east coast but if it's the West....

  21. Thanks again everyone for all of your kind comments and well-wishes. We leave tomorrow and so I thought I'd pop by and tell you how much I've missed not visiting you these past two weeks, I feel so out of touch! - but I've been sooo busy that it's a really good thing I took a bloggy-break. If I am able, I plan to post a few pics of Hobbiton on Sunday evening - we tour it that afternoon. All the best and I look forward to catching up on all of your news when I get back :)
